That "Right" Feeling: Starting Our Own Photography Business
Have you ever felt that feeling? That “right” feeling? When something (or someone!) enters your life and you know it’s something you’re going to embrace, thrive in and grow with? Starting our own photography business was just that!
Who would have thought, though? Us two goofballs who’d only just entered the first year of parenthood, and with me, Sarah, due to finish maternity leave, and also finally saving for a bloody mortgage - we’re crazy risk-takers! But, man! Does it feel oh-so-good!!
Ready for the taking
With Adam’s 4 years of being a self-employed photographer under his belt and me quitting my 9-5 job after maternity leave, we felt so ready to take a plunge and start a business together. Adam had co-founded a studio for photography and videography with two other creatives while we were living in Leeds (you can check out some of Adam’s studio photography here) but, unfortunately, it had to close down in order for student accommodation to be built.
Having the freedom to a creative space really influenced a lot of inspiration and helped us to network, and I’d say with the studio closing down and moving out of Leeds, it was though the Universe was slowly prodding us to start a business together. With so much experience up our sleeves, we were ready.
No limits
Joining forces to create Forbidden Panther means we have full freedom to bask in our love for photography and content creating. Neither of us likes the 9-5 life and being our own bosses means we are way more hands-on with our individual freedom and no observing from people “higher up”. Although, to be fair, working with my man in a business is an even BIGGER excuse for me to boss him around ;)
A journey for all
Forbidden Panther isn’t just for us. It’s for other creatives out there too and we plan to involve and also help as many people. We cannot wait to see where the future takes us and our business because there’s plenty of room to expand and go above and beyond!
If you are thinking of becoming self-employed or starting your own business especially, here’s your sign! Go ahead and do it!
